Extraction:
The staff is great with children. My son was shown on the computer screen and x-ray which teeth they would be pulling and he was offered a headset so that he could listen to music during the procedure. My children love going to the dentist!

What makes you rate it this way?: This is by far the best dental experience I've ever had. The staff was friendly and very patient with me as I asked questions, and they were very knowledgeable. When someone didn't know an answer to one of my questions they went above and beyond to give me more information and a better understanding of the situation.

What was the best part of your experience at our practice?: I have no more fear or anxiety related to the dentist. For eight years I've been avoiding the dentist and making my situation worse, and Dr. Shamblott worked with me to help my fears.

Sedation dentistry has had an impact in my life. Prior to seeing you, I last visited a dentist 3 years. Fear was the main reason I avoided dental care. Prior to seeing you, I was afraid of the dentist and my gums would bleed. Dr. Shamblott and team did everything on my first visit to make me trust them, gain confidence. Space Age Dentistry
Shamblott Family Dentistry uses all the newest and most effective technology. My dental hygienist Ann used an ultrasonic cleaning system that provided the most comfortable cleaning I ever had. New x-ray technology meant no pointy film holders and extremely low radiation dose. Each time I visit the tools are better, and so is the coffee. But dentistry is also an art. I am nearly 50 now and I have had many dentists over the years but I have never had a dentist who is better with his tools than Dr. Shamblott. He crafted a crown for me that worked better than the original tooth. The original used to allow food to get stuck between the teeth. Using a 3D computerized imaging system he perfectly copied the original and then adjusted the shape for a superior fit. Imagine something that has annoyed you for decades just going away. I'm still jazzed about it. I can honestly say that Shamblott Family Dentistry makes going to the dentist a pleasant experience. And, I always leave with the feeling that no other team of professionals in the twin cities could have done the work better.

I just wanted to say thank you for helping my son last week. He had been to another dentist, and the experience had been so unpleasant for him, he was afraid to go at all. We listen to FM107.1 in the mornings and he started paying attention to Ian Punnett's commercial telling people that he was a dental phobe. So after a few weeks of being shushed when the "1-800-fixmyteeth" commercial came on, he finally agreed to go on a field trip to check it out.

Once we were there, the receptionist treated him with a great deal of respect, and allowed him to sign all of the paperwork, next to my signature, making him feel like he was informed, and part of the decision process.

As you could tell he was actually having fun. The staff did a great job explaining the process, and he was blown away when he was actually able to see the video of each of his teeth and what needs to be done, and why. He still has a great deal of work that needs to be done, but if the first visit was any indication, we've been able to take a huge bite out of his dental phobia issues.

Routine cleaning visit
I first saw Dr. Shamblott last year for major dental work related to an accident and years of neglect to my teeth. As someone with a dental phobia, it had been years since I'd seen a DDS. I had a full day-long sedation dentistry appointment that took care of most of my issues at the time. The staff there has been extremely friendly and understanding. They are encouraging and have made me want to show up for my regular check-ups and cleanings rather than avoid them as I did in the past. I still have quite a bit of anxiety when I go to see them, but it is decreasing each time. THANK YOU for taking such good care of me.

This was the best dental work I've ever had. The hygienist checked her work on my tooth cleaning and went back and did spots that didn't come clean the first time. The dentist listened to me about my tooth that hurt and performed diagnostics to discover a cracked tooth. Advanced technological diagnostic techniques were evident the entire time. Music? The other hygienist went and got me the magazine I had been reading in the waiting room? The dentist explained what was going on with a model? Everyone told me what they were about to do and why before they did it? Wow. I have been exposed to a level of dental care I did not know existed.

I am one of “those” patients who never gets numb. I remember my first root canal twenty years ago as a very painful experience, which lasted for several hours and several visits, due to the fact that I could not get completely numb. I could always feel surprising painful jolts throughout the years during dental procedures, something I viewed as uncomfortable but yet necessary in order to have my dental work done. Boy was I wrong!

Dr. Shamblott has completed three root canals and crowns for me in the past several months, completely pain free. He is the FIRST dentist who has ever gotten me completely numb. During the first root canal, I stopped him and told him I was not numb and could feel when he worked on one area of the tooth. He was patient and not at all irritated that he had to stop. He proceeded to give me more anesthetic through what he called an “x-tip”. All dentists should use this! I have never been so numb in my whole life. My dental experience was completely different and pain free because of this.

Dr. Shamblott also fitted me for a night guard appliance called an NTI and it is far more comfortable than my previous night guard.

I can now eat on both sides of my mouth without any sensitivity, something I haven’t been able to do in years.

If you have ever had problems getting numb, I highly recommend that you give Dr. Shamblott a call. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and willing to answer any questions.

Prior to seeing you, I last visited a dentist 6 years ago. Fear was the main reason I avoided dental care. My poor dental health was affecting my self-esteem. Before coming to Shamblott Family Dentistry, I was in constant pain and I would not smile.

I just want to put down some words to thank you and your staff. I remember shaking on the phone when I made that first appointment. I thought about canceling it once. Up until I got my new dentures I did not realize that for 11 years I had been wearing a denture that totally did not fit my face. When I smiled or laughed, you could not see any teeth. I was embarrassed by my bottom teeth because they were old looking and yellow. The Shamblott experience was great. Dr. Shamblott listened to what I wanted, a bright and full smile. The staff talked me through the procedures. I had elected to get sedation dentistry to have the remaining teeth taken out. I highly recommend it to everyone. I took the pre pill and about one hour later it was over. I now have a brighter smile. Someone asked me if I had a face lift. That felt good that someone had noticed a change.

Dr Shamblott and his team were absolutely wonderful. From my first appointment to my last, I was treated with the utmost care and respect.

After several years of fearing and avoiding the dentist, my teeth became bad and were causing me a tremendous amount of pain. Someone recommended Dr. Shamblott to me and I made my appointment. It turns out I needed, some fillings, 3 root canals, and a bridge. I decided that since I needed so much work done, I was going to finally have nice teeth. So I had some fillings done, root canals and a bridge done at the same time with sedation dentistry.

Dr Shamblott and his team had prescriptions filled for me in advance so I wouldn’t have to worry about them after the procedure, and reassured me that everything would be fine. They told me I would not remember a thing and the pain would be minimal. I didn’t believe them and I was still scared and contemplated canceling the whole thing, but I went anyway.

And let me tell you…I don’t remember a thing! Afterwards I hardly had any pain or discomfort either!! I was amazed! The only discomfort I felt was a little bit of swelling…that is it!!

I highly recommend Shamblott Family Dentistry; they are professional, caring and considerate and will do the best to help you get what you need. Working with them was an absolute pleasure and I will continue to go to them in the future. I couldn’t ask for a better dental experience.

I had one exam, where Dr. Shamblott was very careful and understanding. The things required for sedation dentistry were covered. Their instructions, such as not eating or drinking beforehand, do need to be followed carefully I think.

After the exam, I had an appointment where all the work was done except for the placing of the permanent crowns that I got. One minute I was talking to the Nurse who puts you under, and the next, I was home, talking to my brother and son and watching TV.

I had one final appointment where the crowns were placed, and that was pretty easy. Before I had this work done, I was taking over the counter pain killers, and worrying about how things were just getting worse. I felt bad that I couldn’t address this problem. Now, I feel so much better, as if a burden has been lifted from me.

I know that you can trust Dr. Shamblott and everyone in his office to take care of you, and improve your dental health. You will feel so much better after you’ve finished the work that you should have done.

I have had my new bridge for a couple of weeks now and would be remiss if I did not write to express my sincere appreciation and thanks to you and your staff.

As you know, I had a very complicated situation with my existing bridge that replaced many of my top front teeth. I was about to lose the bridge and was facing the possibility of wearing a partial or even a denture. With your expertise and experience, you guided me through almost a year of complications from going to the periodontist, endodontist, orthodontist for extensive treatment to eventually ending up back at your office to have my final impression and work done for my new bridge. Needless to say, I am grateful for your patient explanations and treatment along the way. I want to add that your staff is absolutely “top-notch”. They have made several “temporary” bridges for me to wear throughout my long process and they have been made carefully with great attention to detail.

As the Practice Manager at Shamblott Family Dentistry, I am not ashamed to admit that I am not able to have dental work done without feeling the same anxiousness that many of our patients feel.

Because of this, I chose to have my dental work done with IV sedation. This also gives me the unique ability to explain first hand to patients who are considering sedation what it is like and what to expect from beginning to end.

From start to finish, I must say that sedation dentistry was one of the most relaxing dental visits that I ever experienced. Dr. Shamblott was able to complete my work while I “snoozed”. The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) made me feel like I was in competent and expert hands from the minute I sat in the chair. We have several Nurse Anesthetists who come to the office and they are all professional, friendly, and extremely competent and make each patient feel at ease from the moment they walk through the door until they leave. Having the CRNA available to administer my anesthesia gave Dr. Shamblott the time to concentrate solely on the dentistry that I needed. With sedation, Dr. Shamblott can accomplish up to six hours of dentistry in one sitting!

I want to thank Dr. Shamblott and his staff for making my sedation dental visit a complete success. I had excellent dental work done by Dr. Shamblott and have no memory of the sights, smells and sounds of what bothers me about going to the dentist.

Dentistry has always been a dirty word for me because I have minimal
pain tolerance. Worse there's no getting around it; I'm a gagger. And
then there's the claustrophobic feeling of having multiple strangers' hands
in your mouth. So, when I was referred to Dr. Shamblott for sedation
dentistry by a trusted colleague and FM107, I didn't hesitate. It was fantastic!
Can you imagine describing a trip to the dentist (even if only for
cleaning) as fantastic?!! My only memories of the experience were arriving at the dental office in a relaxed state (all part of the sedation process), being treated with
gentle respect by the team who would be working on me, talking with the
nurse anesthetist, and quietly slipping into 'sleep' during which time
they accomplished six hours of root canals, bridge replacements, crowns,
and other dental work. As a new patient, throughout the entire process; e.g., initial exam,
analysis, diagnosis, treatment plan discussions, and appointment
scheduling, I was impressed with what is clearly a focus on health,
transparent communication, quality patient care, clinical expertise, and
customer service which is absent judgment or shame.

helping me reframe how I think about my dental health including my

My initial consult with Dr. Shamblott was free, convenient, informative and expeditious. Dr. Shamblott has a superior chair-side manner compared to other dentists and I say that having visited 48 states and having lived in 6 of them. Having not been cared for in 3 years -my smile is lacking and requires its due attention. I compared Dr. Shamblott's service fees to three other reputable dentists in the Twin Cities and he is well within (average) range, however: the initial consultation was absolutely free of charge and absent of pressure. Dr. Shamblott's staff is well trained, informed, organized and competent. -"Yeah,yeah,yeah, how was it in the chair," you are wondering ? My teeth are as acute as they come and his procedures were gentle, quick, and virtually unnoticible, especially the application of local numbing agents.

-I have been out of the chair for less than an hour and have recommended him to 5 people. 5 out of 5 stars.

I have been treated with the utmost patience and concern from the very first call that I made as a “terrified” patient who was in pain to my last appointment to cement crowns.  I was very impressed that when I called the office with a severe toothache that I was asked to come over to the office as soon as possible. My concerns were addressed promptly and efficiently upon my arrival.  Xrays and a complete examination were performed in an expert manner on my very first visit.  Because I was very frightened about the possibility of having a great deal of dental work done, the option of sedation was explained to me and I felt that it would work out perfectly for me. 

I had two separate lengthy sedation visits and highly recommend the sedation dentistry experience.  I was able to complete extensive dental work in a very relaxed environment and didn’t have any recall of the experience the next day.  I cannot say enough to compliment Dr. Shamblott and his highly trained staff.  Dr. Shamblott immediately made me feel comfortable and completed my dental work in an extremely efficient manner in an office with all of the most up to date technical equipment.  Dr. Shamblott made sure that I was comfortable with every aspect of my care along the way.  The staff at Shamblott Family Dentistry are all specially trained to handle all of the needs of the sedation patient and are extremely patient and caring.

I recently had a root canal on tooth 15, the top tooth next closest to my wisdom tooth on the left.

I just want to say the proficiency and expert work this office does isextremely impressive.  Not only was everyone proficient but the staff was also kind and you can tell they enjoy each other’s company and working as a team.  As uncomfortable as it is having someone putting tools and apparatus in your mouth my root canal was about as pleasant an experience as any human being can experience given the procedure.  I watched a movie and not only had zero pain throughout the procedure but later that day and night there was still absolutely no pain still. 

I highly recommend this location to any friends, families, and strangers, and believe this location should receive recognition and accommodation as one of the premier facilities in the nation for dentistry.

I had suffered with the pain in my jaw from clenching my teeth at night for more than 5 years when I changed dentists and began visiting Dr. Shamblott. I shared with him how I’d been grinding my teeth for several years and how much pain I endured not only in my jaw but also blinding headaches. I had tried every mouthpiece available. Nothing worked. Nothing relieved the pain. Pain pills became a way of life and all but the tenderest cuts of meats became a thing of the past. Chewing gum was a distant memory. Dr. Shamblott told me about the NTI. Given my history with mouthguard products, I was skeptical. However, desperation is a great motivator so I tried the NTI. The first few nights it felt a little awkward. However, the awkwardness was almost immediately offset by the jubilation I felt at the cessation of jaw pain and headaches. Now – two years later – I can’t imagine sleeping without it. I always double check that I have it in my cosmetic kit before I leave on a trip. I’d be lost without it! I now eat whatever I want, no longer worrying about jaw pain. I enjoy chewing gum again for the first time in ten years! I am indebted to Dr. Shamblott for not only having the product available to his patients, but for also doing a great job in educating me, explaining why the NTI works where other products have failed. The NTI has drastically improved my quality of life!
