    Great experience
I had my first experience with sedation recently and couldn't be happier with the result. I tried to have work done on multiple occassions but could never get through an entire appointment due to my severe panic. Sedation was the only way to relieve the years of pain and neglect I had inflicted on my smile. One sedation appointment accomplished what 5 or 6 regular appointments would have been needed for! It's amazing! One quick prick on the hand and your cares are gone. You wake up fuzzy but relieved to not remember a darn thing! It's genius for those of us with major fear associated with the dentist. Dr. Shamblott is amazing! I have a new outlook on keeping my smile healthy. Thanks!!

Sedation and Dental Makeover Winner 2010
Until this past summer, I had dreaded dentists and put off going far too long. I spend a good deal of time when I was a teenager at the dentist and, as an adult, decided that I was done going. I have avoided going because of previous bad experiences, fear of finding out the truth about my teeth, cost, and fear of pain and discomfort. I continued to talk myself into ignoring problems that I knew were there. Until one afternoon I heard an ad on the radio for a dental makeover contest. I decided that it couldn't hurt to apply and went ahead and sent in an essay outlining my past troubles. I also wrote that all I wanted was to smile at my kids and not be ashamed of what they saw.
I was at a staff meeting a week later and one of my co-workers congratulated me on winning some kind of contest. Needless to say, I waited with excitement to hear from Shamblott Family Dentistry. Bettina contacted me a day or two later and we scheduled my consultation. As excited as I was to win and as relieved as I was to finally face my problems, I was scared. From the time I arrived at the office until the end of my last appointment, I felt taken care of. Dr. Shamblott and his entire staff treated me with respect and kindness, despite my obvious lack of routine care. I never once felt that I was being looked down upon or scolded, rather, I felt that everyone understood my feelings and could sympathize with why I chose to avoid the dentist. The consultation was thorough. After getting multiple x-rays and discussing my thoughts with Dr. Shamblott, he discussed every issue with my mouth. I appreciated that he was upfront and detailed about what was wrong and about what could be done. I was scheduled for sedation dentistry the following month. There was a national shortage of propofol and we had to reschedule a couple of times. Bettina was always prompt in letting me know what was going on and trying her best to reschedule as quickly as possible. I never felt like I was being pushed to the back of the list. I was given clear instructions on how to prepare for the sedation and on what I could expect afterward. I was given some medication to take prior to the sedation to help relax me. By the time I arrived at the office I felt great and had no apprehension or nerves about all of the dental work I was going to have done. The last thing I remember is the nurse anesthetist numbing my hand before inserting the IV and thinking "what service!" Over the course of the next month I went back for a couple of follow-up appointments in order to have crowns and bridges made. Each and every time I went I felt special. Everyone remembered who I was and was gentle with my sore mouth. One of the dental assistants even took me aside after one appointment and told me that she noticed that I seemed to be having some pain during the procedure. She said that just because my work was being done free of charge did not mean that I didn't deserve to be comfortable and pain-free.

She encouraged me to speak up next time if there was any discomfort. I am still so grateful to her for being so kind and thoughtful. When I finally finished with my last appointment I couldn't believe how wonderful my teeth looked and how good I felt to have finally taken control of one of my biggest issues. Dr. Shamblott was present for every step of the way and was professional and kind. I can't thank him and his entire team enough for providing such an amazing gift. Now I smile at my kids and laugh with them every day and know that my teeth not only look great, but are finally healthy.

    Dear Dr. Shamblott and Team

Sedation dentistry has had an impact in my life. Prior to seeing you, I last visited a dentist 3 years. Fear was the main reason I avoided dental care. Prior to seeing you, I was afraid of the dentist and my gums would bleed. Dr. Shamblott and team did everything on my first visit to make me trust them, gain confidence. The whole procedure was very smooth. I didn't feel a thing due to the sedative given. I'm happy and confident now that I took care of my teeth and will continue forever.

    Sedation root canal and bridgework.
Very comfortable experience from start to finish. You arrive relaxed with a little help from a few meds and pretty much fall asleep and remember nothing until the work is done and you slowly wake up. No stress or pain involved.

    Ready to go Back
After ignoring my mouth for years the treatment plan could have been SO much worse. having the nitrous makes the visits go by so much faster and with it being complimentary I can afford to have the work done vs paying $55 per treatment. The staff was understanding, caring and fun. Thank you for providing dental care to "dental phobes"!! Dear Dr. Shamblott and Team, Sedation dentistry has had an impact on my life. Here’s how: Prior to seeing you, I last visited a dentist 31 years ago. I avoided dental care because of fear and a poor experience at my last dental visit. Prior to seeing you I was in constant pain, had trouble eating and would not smile. I feel so good about Dr. Shamblott and his team because they are: caring, knowledgeable, professional and courteous!

As the Practice Manager at Shamblott Family Dentistry, I am not ashamed to admit that I am not able to have dental work done without feeling the same anxiousness that many of our patients feel.

Because of this, I chose to have my dental work done with IV sedation. This also gives me the unique ability to explain first hand to patients who are considering sedation what it is like and what to expect from beginning to end.

From start to finish, I must say that sedation dentistry was one of the most relaxing dental visits that I ever experienced. Dr. Shamblott was able to complete my work while I “snoozed”. The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) made me feel like I was in competent and expert hands from the minute I sat in the chair. We have several Nurse Anesthetists who come to the office and they are all professional, friendly, and extremely competent and make each patient feel at ease from the moment they walk through the door until they leave. Having the CRNA available to administer my anesthesia gave Dr. Shamblott the time to concentrate solely on the dentistry that I needed. With sedation, Dr. Shamblott can accomplish up to six hours of dentistry in one sitting!

I want to thank Dr. Shamblott and his staff for making my sedation dental visit a complete success. I had excellent dental work done by Dr. Shamblott and have no memory of the sights, smells and sounds of what bothers me about going to the dentist.

If you have questions about sedation dentistry or about my personal experience, please don’t hesitate to call me at the office at 952-935-5599.
