At Shamblott Family Dentistry we use the latest in dental technology to make our patients’ visits as comfortable and pleasant as possible.
Digital X-Rays
Digital X-rays reduce radiation by up to 90% compared to traditional x-rays. The x-ray image pops up on the computer screen within 3 seconds. The image is saved and stored with the rest of the patient’s electronic chart. The digital x-rays can be enlarged, rotated, or colorized to provide enhanced diagnostic ability.

Digital Panorex or Panoramic X-Ray
All new patients receive a free digital panoramic x-ray. This shows all of the teeth and structures of the upper and lower jaws, including wisdom teeth. The Panoramic X-ray will help us locate any abnormalities of the jaw bones and tissues including cysts, tumors and jaw fractures.
Intraoral Camera
Intraoral cameras take pictures of conditions inside your mouth. With intraoral camera photos, any dental problems found can be shown to patients so they can see what the dentist sees. The images are magnified and stored as part of the patient’s electronic patient chart.

Sidekick Dental Digital Education
Patient education is extremely important, so we use Sidekick, a computer program that provides information about every dental procedure offered in our office.
Computer, Email and Text Communications
Registration forms can be completed online and printed out and brought to your appointment. Appointment reminders can be sent via text and email. Email is often used to communicate with patients. Questions can be emailed to the office for non-urgent matters.
Movie Glasses / DVD Glasses
We offer the use of virtual video glasses for your enjoyment. What a great way to enjoy your dental visit! You can choose from a list of over 100 video titles or bring in your own DVD. You can be completely immersed in your video while watching a virtual 80 inch screen and surrounded by stereo sound. It is a great way to reduce your anxiety, get quality dental treatment, enjoy your dental visit and be entertained at the same time. Give us a call and give it a try.
Itero Digital Impressions
The thick putty like impression materials that caused patients to gag during crown and bridge impressions are a thing of the past. Now a special camera takes digital impressions that are easier, more comfortable and more accurate.
Computerized Patient Chart
There is a computer in each treatment room and throughout the office. This allows your patient chart: X-rays, appointments, treatment plan, notes and photographs to be accessed anywhere in the office. Appointments can be scheduled from any treatment room so you do not have to wait at the front desk to schedule an appointment.
Computer Monitors
Each treatment room has two computer monitors, one on the cabinets and one on the ceiling. Your digital x-rays, intraoral photos or Sidekick patient education can be comfortably viewed either sitting up or reclining.
Nintendo Entertainment System
There is a Nintendo game system set up in the children’s corner of the reception area for patients of all ages.
Air Abrasion
Air abrasion is a device that works like a mini sandblaster to remove decay or cavities. This allows us to quickly prepare small cavities without using a drill or needing Novocain.
Midmark Autoclave and Statim Autoclave Sterilizers
These reliable sterilizers provide fast and effective sterilization for instruments and handpieces. All of our sterilization procedures meet or exceed state and federal standards for infection control. All instruments are placed in sterilization pouches and run through either the Midmark or Statim sterilizers. The sterilized pouches are then opened for each patient.
EKG / Pulse Oximeter
With Sedation Dentistry or Sleep Dentistry, you won’t feel a thing. In fact, sedation dentistry relaxes you so you’ll be completely unaware that you are at a dentist office. When everything is done, you’ll wake up with little or no memory of the procedure. You can catch up on years of putting off trips to the dentist in as little as one or two visits. The pulse oximeter is used to measure your vital signs (pulse, blood pressure, EKG and oxygen saturation) during the sedation procedure by the Nurse Anesthetist to ensure your safety and comfort.
Zoom In Office Bleaching or Teeth Whitening
Zoom is a power-assisted in office bleaching process that dramatically lightens stained teeth. It is the bleaching process used on ABC’S Extreme Makeover. During the procedure there is a short preparation period followed by multiple 20 minute bleaching periods. Zoom is a safe, effective and very fast teeth whitening process. Zoom whitening is ideal for anyone looking for immediate results, with an average improvement of up to eight shades.
Rotary Endodontics or Root Canals
Rotary endodontics is a method of performing root canals that uses an air driven handpieces with files to clean and shape the root canals faster and more thoroughly then hand files. This results in a faster and more comfortable procedure for the patient.
