Gum Disease
Gum Disease Is a Sure Sign of Problems
Gingivitis should never be ignored...
Gum disease is a serious bacterial infection that affects the gums and bone surrounding your teeth. It is caused by the bacteria in "plaque," the sticky film that forms on your teeth between brushings.
If this is a dental emergency, please call the dentist at 952-935-5599 for same-day service.
" Amazing job. They put me at ease and the procedures were pain free. There was no lecturing, but good advice."

Gum disease can cause Gingivitis leading to Periodontitis...
Gingivitis is the first form gum disease takes. Everyone has had gingivitis at least once in their lives. It's where the gums become red and swollen and bleed easily. This can usually be reversed by professional dental treatment and good home dental care.
Periodontitis is the advanced stage of gum disease and happens when gingivitis goes untreated. In periodontitis, toxins are released by the bacteria in the plaque that has spread below the gum line. The body attempts to respond but winds up destroying bone and gum tissue.
Symptoms include:
- bleeding during tooth brushing
- red, swollen or tender gums
- gums that have pulled away from the teeth
- persistent bad breath
- pus forming in tooth "pockets"
- loose or separating teeth
- a change in the way your teeth fit together when you bite
- a change in the fit of partial dentures
If you are exhibiting any of these disease symptoms, you must contact your dentist now...

Prior to seeing Dr. Shamblott, I last visited the dentist 16 years ago. Fear was the main reason I avoided dental care. My poor dental health was affecting my overall health and my self-esteem. Prior to seeing Dr. Shamblott I would not smile, bad breath was a problem and my gums would bleed. Dr Shamblott has the "perfect touch", I had a pain-free root canal. No swelling or pain after either! The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly.
Thanks.
