Dental crowns, dental caps or tooth caps are tooth shaped coverings placed on teeth to rebuild or strengthen them. They cover all of the tooth structure at and above the gum line.
Awesome
What a great experience! I came in with a broken tooth and Dr. DeLlano was able to fit me in for a crown on the same day. All of thestaff was so courteous and caring - it was the most positive experience I haveever had with a dentist! :)

Three major types of crowns
There are three major types available: Ceramic, gold or porcelain fused to metal. Each has its benefits and detractions and the choice is more a matter of use and visual aesthetics more than price.
While ceramic is the most visually appealing and is usually fine for the front teeth, you may not want to use them in the back where the strength of the metal is more appropriate. Porcelain fused to metal is sometimes a good compromise although there may be a little metal showing at the gumline.
You should discuss the choices, the benefits of each and the possible detractions thoroughly with Dr. Shamblott before proceeding.

Crown
I had a really great overall experience with my first (hopefully last) crown once we did the procedure.
