What is bruxism anyway? Clenching your jaw or grinding your teeth is called bruxism and it can happen in many different ways. Most commonly, bruxism occurs when people are stressed, anxious, or while they are sleeping.
Some symptoms of bruxism include a sore jaw or headache, or even some pain in your teeth from the actual grinding. Grinding over time can lead teeth to develop fractures. Dentists can make customized mouth guards to help protect your teeth from these fractures.
If you tend to grind your teeth while you are stressed it is best to find activities that help you relax. Exercise can help reduce some tension along with physical therapy. It’s best to find things that calm you individually and stick to them. Don’t let your teeth pay the price!
