During Sunday's radio show "The Waiting Room" Dr. Scott discussed our upcoming Dentistry from the Heart and Memorial Blood Drive events and also talked about stories of what people have done when having a toothache. Dentistry from the Heart is a non-profit organization that is hosted in 48 states by about 250 dental offices.
There are no income restrictions for this day, but you must be a new patient to the office. All patients seen on Friday, Feb. 25th will receive a limited exam, x-rays, and either one filling or one extraction. Shamblott Family Dentistry alone saw 68 patients last year and gave away $25,000 in free dentistry. This year, Lakeville Dental will also be hosting Dentistry from the Heart at their office.
One of Dr. Scott's favorite toothache stories was while he was a resident at the University of Tennessee Hospital. Dr. Scott was one of four residents who were on call in the emergency room when a pager went off in the middle of the night. As Dr. Scott went down to the ER and evaluated his patient, he noticed the patient at many broken and abscessed teeth. The patient said his toothache hurt so badly he had to start brushing it!
Don't forget to register to donate blood for our Memorial Blood Drive during our Dentistry from the Heart event this Friday, Feb. 25th. The blood drive will run from 1:30-4:30 p.m. and you can register to donate right online. Click on schedule now, schedule a donation, and then search "Shamblott" under organization.
